چکیده

In the paper boost converter characteristics at the steady state obtained from SPICE analysis with the use of selected kinds of MOSFET models of various complexity and accuracy are compared. The dependencies of the converter output voltage, the watt-hour efficiency and the MOSFET inner temperature on the frequency and the duty cycle of the MOSFET control signal as well as the converter load resistance are considered. The correctness of the calculation results was verified experimentally. The duration time of the analyses corresponding to all the considered models of the MOS transistor are compared, too. Vpliv modela MOSFET tranzistorja na karakteristike ojačitvenega pretvornika Kjučne besede: V čLanku primerjamo statične karakteristike pretvornika pridobljene s SPICE simulacijo z uporabo izbranih MOSFET modelov različnih kompleksnosti in natančnosti.

A Buck-Boost Converter; Design, Analysis and Implementation Suggested for Renewable Energy Systems

This work introduces a new non-isolated buck-boost DC-DC converter. Interleaved configuration of the suggested structure increases the voltage conversion ratio. The voltage rate of the suggested converter can be stepped-up and stepped down for lower values of duty-cycle, which causes to decrease in the conduction losses of the system. The voltage conversion ratio of the recommended structure is...

Design of Maximum Power Point Tracking in Solar Array Systems Using Fuzzy Controllers

In recent year's renewable energy sources have become a useful alternative for the power generation. The power of photovoltaic is nonlinear function of its voltage and current. It is necessary to maintain the operation point of photovoltaic in order to get the maximum power point (MPP) in various solar intensity. Fuzzy logic controller has advantage in handling non-linear system. Maximum power ...

A New Structure of Buck-Boost Z-Source Converter Based on Z-H Converter

In this paper, a new structure for buck-boost Z-source converter based on Z-H topology is proposed. The proposed converter consists of two LC networks similar to the conventional Z-source and Z-H converters. One of the characteristics of the proposed structure is that, without any changing in its’ power circuit, it can be used in different conversions such as dc/dc, dc/ac and ac/ac. This unique...

Experiment #5 – Gate Driver High-Side and Low-Side Switches

A low-side switch is a MOSFET or an IGBT that is connected to the ground-referenced and is not floating. In a boost converter, the source terminal of the MOSFET is connected to the circuit ground, which is referred to a low-side MOSFET. To switch an N-channel MOSFET of a boost converter on, the V should be in the order of 10 to 20V. Since the source terminal is grounded, this implies that the g...

Performance Evaluations of Hard-Switching Interleaved DC/DC Boost Converter with New Generation Silicon Carbide MOSFETs

The emergence of PV inverter and Electric Vehicles (EVs) has created an increased demand for high power densities and high efficiency in power converters. Silicon carbide (SiC) is the candidate of choice to meet this demand, and it has, therefore, been the object of a growing interest over the past decade. The Boost converter is an essential part in most PV inverters and EVs. This paper present...
